Description

I debated on adding this image for some time. I don't want to saturate the album with similar moon pictures; however, I just am so excited with the results I got.

A buddy of mine  who has helped me tremendously over the past year learn astrophotography and processing recommended using firecapture which allows you to take far greater number of frames to get a better image. The difficulty with planetary imaging is atmospheric distortion. The more frames you get the more likely you are to get a clear picture with minimal atmospheric distortion.

Unfortunately I couldn't get firecatpure software last night but used the ZWO ASI software suite which has a planetary imaging plugin to capture our solar system objects in the best detail.

The above image consists of 3000 frames of red, blue, green filters on a monochrome camera. I stacked the best 80% of each color filter and combined in photoshop for a final color image.

This was shot last night, and I am very happy with the results. One day I hope to get a planetary setup (need a MUCH bigger telescope) but until then I continue to shoot the moon and deep sky objects .

I hope you enjoy this!
