Description

A widefield shot of the amazing antennae galaxies as they collide. Below them is NGC4027 which is also the product of a galactic collision some time in the past as evidenced by one arm of the galaxy going out further than the other arm. To the left of NGC4027 is an area of nebulosity which i assume may be connected with this past interaction but i have been unable to collect much information about this - probably due to the prominence of the antenna galaxies which occupies most people's attention. However, if you look closely, you can see lots of other smaller galaxies in this image as well which highlights how amazing the night sky is. This image was captured with my trusty old 102mm F5.1 refractor. It comprises 10 hours of LRGB data captured at a dark sky sight near my home. A good two nights spent under amazing skies with like minded nerds like me.
