Description

I wanted to test my Nikon 300mm f/4 AF-S with my OSC camera (using ZWO Nikon adapter) using a 77 to 67mm step down ring as an aperture mask to see if I could:

1. Focus (yes! but was not easy manually)

2. Achieve reasonably good stars corner to corner (Mostly yes! However they are red "inside" and blue "outside", giving stars a magenta color)

3. Avoid getting an astigma-chromatic-abberation-coma-tism with the stars (Mostly yes! I may try stepping down a bit more).

Stars are still kind of blebby, especially the brighter ones. I have not tried deconvolving, though, as I wanted to see the stars here at their worst.

If this is as bad I can make them, then I might have something here.

Version #2 is after running the EZ Reduce Stars script in PI.

There is not enough integration time using a UV/IR cut filter to really pull much from IC405, but that wasn't the point of this; this is just a star-rich area serving as a torture test for this lens.
