Description

That is, IMHO, one the best of all regions of the night sky: The galaxy centre and the Scorpius Constellation. Visible on Winter (here Down Under; Summer in the Northern Hemisphere), it shines overhead from southern latitutes, where this picture has been taken (22ºS). You can see M8 and M20, the Lagoon and Trifid Nebulae; NGC 6334 and NGC 6357, the Cat's Pawn and Lobster Nebulae; the Blue Horsehead (IC 4592); Antares and Rho Ophiucus, with the "Dark River"; as well as several NGCs and many clusters. This image has my longest integration time, of 0.5h, which is still not much, compared to hours some images have. Taken from a Bortle Scale 3 or 4 Rural Sky; from MG, Brazil.

Camera: Unmodded T4i/650D at ISO 800
Lens: Canon 40mm STM f/2.8, stopped down to f/3.2
Exposure Detail: 15x120", or 15x2 minutes, total 30 minutes.

Visível no inverno (aqui no Hem. Sul; Verão no Hem.
