Description

I wanted to take a picture of the moon with my Istar telescope to compare that to the same image taken yesterday. Same camera was used and I used Photoshop to edit both images with exactly the same changes.

So after capturing with both telescopes, I think I like the image from the Istar is better than the Takahashi. Now, I'm not saying the Istar is a better telescope. It's different. It's a doublet, 8" in diameter with a focal length of about 1540mm. The Takahashi is a triplet apochromat with 4" diameter and focal length of 830mm. I had to convert the Istar image to black and white to remove the chromatic aberration, but there was really very little CA. It was hardly noticeable to my eye, but the camera did capture a bit more than what I could see. Both images are decent given my ability to capture them, but I think the Istar image looks better.
