Description

A small tribute to New Horizons for its fly-by over Pluto....

Setup ST8XME sur TMB80/480 mm, 45 minutes of exposure.

Pluto (Mag 14) is around 16° near the Galaxy plane (on the right), July is the best month to try to detect Pluto in a big telescope (400 mm). But Pluto is well hidden within a quite dense cloud of stars.

On the Top right, NGC6716, a small open cluster.

New Horizons will continue its trip on the right of Pluto. Pluto will move with a S shape trajectory according to the Earth annual parallaxe, slowly drifting to the left of the image, outgoing from the galaxy plane it has gotten across this last years. At 2015 december, Pluto will definitely quit the image field.
