Description

When I tried to upload this image yesterday, I had some difficulties either because of my slow connection or due to Astrobin database maintenance. I had a flight to catch I was not able to enter the specifics of the image. Sorry about that.

This is a work in progress... I had to capture the subs less than optimal conditions, ie hazy weather, and when the object was low in the sky. I was essentially testing my new MESU 200 mount's tracking.

To obtain this Pseudo Luminance, I have combined long and short exposures of various lengths and various filters as below:

Luminance - 12x 900s, 10x 30s, 50x 10s

Red – 9x 600s, 30x 10s

Green – 14x 600s, 24x 10s

Blue – 21x 600s, 35x 10s

These frames were captured on the following nights:

August 16, 17,18,19,20,21, September 4, 5, 24, 25

I’m still trying to find out the best method to process this data…. What I did so far in post processing in Pixinsight is the following:

- Dynamic crop

- Dynamic Background Extraction

- Histogram Transformation

- HDRMultiscale Transform

I will combine the RGB channels and see how the color version will turn out.

The image scale is 1.76” per pixel. So it’s not a high res image. However, I’m very pleased with how the numerous tiny galaxies in the image are showing their details. There are some artifacts in the L subs caused by a reflection from the OAG mirror which I fixed in the RGB shots. I will have to spot heal those in Photoshop probably.
