Description

NGC206 is a very bright star cloud in one of spiral arms of our closest galactic neighbor, the Great Andromeda Galaxy (M31). In this closer view you can make out individual stars in the cluster. This has always been quite amazing to me considering the distances involved. Most of these blue supergiants have a short lifespan of millions of years (compared to billions for sun-like stars). Nevertheless, it's an impressive sight at this scale even through an amateur telescope.

Enjoy!
