Description

The image on the right is one of the first images I ever made in this hobby. I was using a small point-and-shoot probably aimed on a bean-bag on a park table. It had a 16x optical zoom and I managed to snag a bunch of frames of the moon and then stack them. I was pretty proud at the time.

Zoom to today - was burned out by the crappy mount trying to make DSO images. I've made a decision recently to get back into the hobby, but while getting into the swing of things, made some moonshots while helping my son with a science-fair project.

Comments from me: I think the image on the left is better. I wasn't so aggressive with the wavelet sharpening, but the base quality is better as well. I just don't think the glass in the cybershot was meant for this sort of ordeal. At the same time, though, the images with the Canon are a bit noisier (no calibrations either image, though I had LENR turned on). Of course, I may have over-processed the 2013 image and wiped out the noise - I can't remember.
