Description

About it:

The Leo Triplet, also known as "M66 Group", is a group of interacting spiral galaxies. The three galaxies have all been affected by gravitational interactions with each other.

This is evident in the deformed arms of M66 that are experiencing a high rate of star forming activity.

But the most affected of the three is without questions NGC 3628. Its disk is completely warped and its deformation is notable in the prominent tail, consisting mainly of young blue stars .

M65 appears to have suffered the least damage from the interaction...
