Description

This is a timelapse shot during OZSky 2024 at Coonabarabran. A debate started the previous evening among some very advanced observers about what the Bright lights seen dancing across the eastern horizon at 3 am were. By the time I arrived after tending to my NEQ6, the group seemed to be in a bit of excitement. I was queried what were the lights as I was one of the Aussies still awake. I already knew what they were seeing and calmly told them they were satellites. I got out my camera and proceeded to shoot a short timelapse to show them. The following evening I started the timelapse early at midnight and let it run for nearly 5 hours. It caught the Milky Way rising as well as the invasion of the satellites. The last 40 seconds of the video bring home just how crowded our skies have become. I hope you watch it to the end. This has not been processed in any way, other then the music, the video was shot by the Nikon Z9 and the Laowa 35mm f0.95 lens with a 2-second exposures at ISO6400.
