Description

The Witch Head nebula is an iconic object, the images I have seen show that beautiful strong blue reflection nebula. I suspected there may be significant H-a in the area, so I tried a few sample subs - and found a lot. So, I added it to the mix.

But this image was not done laughing at my meager processing skills - the witch had a few more challenges aside from riding low over the light-polluted city of Prescott Arizona.

One was the surprising number of galaxies. At first, I thought StarXTerminator was choking. But no, the field is littered with galaxies. They are small and have good surface brightness, so when I stretched the nebula of course they all blew out. There was one barred spiral that caught my eye tentatively identified as NGC 1797. It's just right of horizontal center of frame, about 10% down from the top. If the little RedCat can make out the arms ... wow. One day I will be playing in the 2000+mm league, and in the words of Rocky Raccoon "I'm going to get that boy".

The other challenge was sky positioning. The parade of satellites just played hell with my processing. I'll leave it at that
