Description

The second galaxy of the evening is M33, which is, like M101, sometimes referred to as the Pinwheel Galaxy, or it is sometimes called the Triangulum Galaxy as well, for being near the small constellation Triangulum.

M33 is a member of the Local Group of galaxies, and is the third largest in this group (behind us and the Andromeda Galaxy). It lies somewhere between 2.4-3 million lightyears away.

Description: I spent the weekend re-processing some of my astrophotos using some new techniques I've learned recently - mainly, starting with a 32-bit TIFF out of DeepSkyStacker directly into Photoshop without editing it in DSS first. This has so far allowed me to pull out dimmer details without bringing out too much noise. This one, unfortunately, is still stuck with a massive amount of noise - it was a warm night in July with my DSLR. In any case, the colors are better now!
