Description

Another fun attempt at 1" exposures on a fixed tripod at 135mm with the Samyang f/2 lens.

This was at the Canadian Starfest Party last week in Ontario. While my main rig was busy capturing some M16 data, I setup for another attempt at rapid lucky imaging on a fixed tripod.

The skies here are quite nice, finding M8 was pretty easy as Saturn was just to the right of it. I had a fairly bright star on the left of the field to keep my alignment. I would re-align every 100 frames. I set the cameras intervalometer to 100 so there was no need to stop it, I just waited for it to finish. I found 100 frames was reasonable before needing a reposition. Focus held well, and I had some hand warmers to keep the insane dew off the lens.

It really did not take too long to capture the 800 frames and reposition.

I found the ideal exposure time was 1.3" for my setup.

Enjoy!
