Description

A little unusual to show a picture of the ground as an astrophoto, but it is. We viewed totality of the 21 Aug 2017 eclipse from Rexburg, Idaho. It was awesome and everything I'd hoped for. We saw shadow bands, the approaching shaft of darkness that was the Moon's shadow, Bailey's beads, the glorious corona, prominences leaping off the edge of the Sun, and a gorgeous diamond ring effect. I opted not to try any fancy photography; totality was only 2 min 17 seconds long at my site (and my attempt to shoot totality with my ancient point-and-shoot camera was a dismal failure), and I focused on just watching and enjoying instead. But this view of sharp crescent shadows seemed worth posting.

iPhone 6 with no special processing. I've got a series of these at various phases of the eclipse, but for now this is all I intend to post.
