Description

The Northern Cross

Used a full-spectrum modified Canon 1200D with a Canon 40mm EF f/2.8 prime lens for over 7 days, colelcting around 13.5 hours of "The Backbone of the Milky Way"

Used a CLS-CCD filter to acquire luminance channel (by pseudo-luminance extraction from the RGB image) and UV/IR L-2 filter for RGB. Exposure times around 6 and 7.5 hours respectively. f/4 with ISO 800 and setup mounted on HEQ-5. First filter isolates nebulosity and contrast whilst suppressing light pollution, which alters the brightness of RGB image from second filter, that captured visible spectrum starlight.

Includes Veil supernova remnant, the North American Nebula, the Gamma Cygni Nebula and a bunch of other deep-sky objects.
