Description

This is my first attempt to measure the distance to a star by using the parallax technique.

The images where taken 445 days apart.

The recorded movement is ~7.83 pixels and the resolution is 0.64"/pixel.

Knowing that Proxima Centauri's proper motion is 3.85"/year: 4.69" corresponds to it and 0.32" to parallax angle. Extrapolating that result for 80 days (445 - 365) to 180 days: the angle would have been 0.73".

Parallax= 1/0.73= 1.37 parsecs (real distance is 1.30 parsecs)
