Description

The Cone Nebula is an H II region approximately 2,700 light-years distant in the constellation of Monoceros. The Cone is part of the nebulosity around the Christmas Tree Cluster. Both the nebula and the cluster are catalogued as NGC 2264.

This was photographed between 15 and 22 January 2018 from our remote imaging rig in Extremadura, Spain. It consists:

Ha: 21 x 1200s

Lum: 31 x 600s

Red: 24 x 600s

Green: 24 x 600s

Blue: 24 x 600s

A total of 25.8 hours exposure.
