Description

M45 - Pleiades also known as Seven Sisters or Messier 45, are an open star cluster located in the constellation of Taurus. It is among the nearest star clusters to Earth and is the cluster most obvious to the naked eye in the night sky.

I took this picture from backyard. I saw this star cluster before I bought the telescope and always wondered what it was. As my curiosity grew and my astrophotography improved, I still never tried to take this picture, thinking this would be a difficult object to process. I am super excited to see how the final image came.

The cluster is dominated by hot blue and luminous stars that have formed within the last 100 million years. Reflection nebulae around the brightest stars were once thought to be left over material from the formation of the cluster, but are now considered likely to be an unrelated dust cloud in the interstellar medium through which the stars are currently passing.
