Description

This object is a small cometary nebula located 3300 light years away in the constellation of Monoceros at a declination of -8 degrees. This home for a young, growing star spans 4 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a width of 4 light years.

Within the cometary nebula type, this object is classified as a bright conical nebula similar to NGC 2261 (Hubble's Variable Nebula). This object is one of the reddish cometary nebulae known.
