Description

The weather is getting cold and foggy down my way, so it's a good chance to complete some processing.

I have imaged the Running Chicken Nebula (aka Lamda Centauri Nebula, IC 2944) several times since falling in love with astrophotography. But this is my first attempt using narrowband, settling on the SHO palette after trying a few other options. I enjoy the dynamics of this region, especially the swirling central nebulosity. I also particularly like the Bok globules in the foreground which are understood to commonly result in the formation of binary/multiple star systems.

An object I had not noticed during previous attempts is the faint planetary nebula to the top-right of frame which is known by a plethora of designations, including PK 294-00.1 and Henize 2-72.

CS and warm wishes!
