Description

Open star clusters are everything else than boring. Messier 35 and NGC 2158 are both open clusters in the constellation of Gemini. Once thought to be a globular cluster NGC 2158 is actually an older open cluster with a higher number of stars and a five times larger distance which makes it appear much denser. Due to its age and also extinction the more reddish stars form a beautiful color contrast against the blue stars of M 35.
