Description

IC1848, also named the Soul Nebula is a magnificent (from my perspective of course), emission nebula that I already took in 2020/2021 when I was equipped with a RASA C11 scope. However, at that time I didn’t have the skills to generate a publishable image. So, I did capture again the nebula with my TV127 refractor and 10Micron mount to obtain a well detailed Ha layer. So, after accumulating 268 subs of 180s each, I obtained the level of details aimed while keeping some smoothness around the details. Then I compiled the SII and OIII layers from the RASA C11 (not such an easy task to manually match the layers with different focal lengths, if you have suggestions I am interested…), as well as the RGB for the stars. Obtaining the final image was also not so straight forward as the nebula is quite strongly contrasted, so one may end with a rather “artificial” image. I hope that you will enjoy this version. CS Nicola
