So last night was looking really good in the beginning. After trying, once again to get Witch Head Nebula, she won, and I gave up. I then moved over to IC 2177. The temp dropped to 22F, and humidity was high. Guiding was all over the place, but I was able to get 55 subs, at 300 seconds each. Salvaged 53 of said subs, after seeing in Blink, that there had been an intrusion of high ice crystals in the atmosphere, over the course of my imaging session. More than likely, the Witch Head wreaking havoc on me!. So you can see to the right of the image what is probably light pollution filtering in through the ice. This target sits in the southern sky, which is my worse for the light dome from Salem, Beverly, and Boston MA. The dome is quite prominent to the south, especially with any particulates in the sky, like smoke, smog, pollution, or ice crystals. However, overall I am happy that I could salvage the evening, and get a half way all right image! Will go back on a better night. This is also my first time using the new Optolong L Quad Enhance filter, which did help, at least some with the light pollution. Clear Skies

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
