Description

The North America and the Pelican nebula are two emission nebulas in the Cygnus constellation, a place rich mainly in HII near the Deneb star, with a distance from the Earth estimated between 1,500 and 3000 light years away. It was discovered by the english astronomer William Herschel in 1786 and then catalogued by his son John Herschel on August 21, 1829, which today makes exact 194 years from that event.
