Description

The Cygnus loop consists of the Western and Eastern Veil nebulae, and Pickering's triangle. The Cygnus Loop is a supernova remnant formed by the death of a massive star 20 times the mass of the Sun. Massive stars live fast and die young, with their lives ending in a cataclysmic release of energy.

NGC6960 - The Western Veil Nebula, also known as 'The Witches Broom', forms part of the larger Cygnus loop expanding into space due to that Supernova explosion, also seen in the image is part of Pickering's triangle.
