Description

This is a monochrome picture of the Hydrogen-Alpha Gas (Ha) with the stars removed of the Flame Nebula. The Flame Nebula, also known as NGC 2024, is ~1350 light years away in the constellation of Orion. NGC 2024 is a portion of the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex, which includes such famous nebulae as the Horsehead Nebula and Orion Nebula.

This image  was captured, in a Queen Creek (Arizona) Bortle 7 backyard, using a Skywatcher Esprit 150ED telescope. The telescope is mounted on a 10Micron GM2000 HPS II mount. The camera is a ZWO ASI 2600MM Pro using an Antlia Ha 3nm filter. It was captured over 3 nights (2022-11-05 to 2022-11-07). The images were stacked/processed in Pixinsight and fine-tuning done in Photoshop.
