Description

The Leo Triplet is a small group of three interacting spiral galaxies in the constellation Leo. This cosmic trio consists of two Messier objects, M65(top) and M66(bottom), as well as NGC 3628(left), which is also called the Hamburger galaxy due to its shape. The Trio is engaged in an intricate gravitational dance. What adds to the cosmic spectacle is the presence of a mesmerizing tidal tail. This extended ribbon of stars and gas is a tangible consequence of the gravitational interactions between the galaxies within the Leo Triplet. Moreover, a dwarf galaxy, often a smaller celestial companion, is entangled in this intricate cosmic ballet, contributing to the dynamic and evolving nature of the Leo Triplet system. Studying these interactions provides valuable insights into the complex interplay of celestial bodies.
