Description

This image is an experiment to see how effectively dark and small reflection nebulas could be captured in LRGB with high levels of urban light pollution.  The initial results were not encouraging and made worse by dirt that had somehow entered the imaging system which evaded all attempts to calibrate the nasty motes out of the subframes.  With positive experiences with the new WeightedBatchPreProcessing script and Starnet2 module in Pixinsight and a new fast computer, I tried again to process the data with better rather than spectacular results.  This should probably be considered work in progress as I may make another attempt to collect more data, possibly some in narrowband, later in the year.

Total integration time was 12.6 hours using an ASI1600MM-C camera at gain 10 and cooled to -10C:
L  118x120s 3.93h
R   65x120s 2.16h
G. 70x120s 2.33h
B 126x120s 4.20h

Removed dust motes and other artifacts using paintbrush in GIMP, on the starless images created by Starnet2.
Created an enhanced luminance image from adding L master and extracted L channel from the RGB combined masters, followed by deconvolution and TGV and MMTY noise reduction using the EZ Denoise scripts.  RGB was simply denoised before combining with the enhanced luminance channel. After BackgroundNeutralisation and PhotmetricColourCalibratopm the linear image was stretched using ArcSineStretch, followed by more denoising and final adjustments using CurvesTransform.
