M31 - Princess Andromeda

After winter storms, we are enjoying some calm, clear skies, and cold temperature. Andromeda is a safe bet, rescued from the jaws of Cetus, she is indeed beautiful, au naturale, without all the jewellery that adorns Queen Cassiopeia.

I am getting closer to optimising my Samyang lens setup, evident in better shaped stars. This barely cropped image was taken at f2 ‘eyes wide open’ and I’ve tried to process gently so as not to detract from the natural look.

I have a new cradle with a clever manual focus control, which holds everything secure, and allows me to mount my mini guide scope on top. Now what to add to my empty ball socket…

Title: Reprocessed with HDR and AI sharp and denoise tools

Description: GHS stretched starless image transferred to Startools for HRD reduction of core, then Deep Sky Detail Astrosharp and Astroclean (denoise) before recombining with deconvolved starmask in Siril. I tried to pull up the blue starclouds a bit.

Title: Reprocessed

Description: I drizzled the data, extracted RGB channels from the starmask and recombined using pixel math 0.5*R, 08*G and B. I then binned the data 2x2 and allowed Deep Sky Detail astrosharp and astroclean to do its magic. Star colour is much better, but aberrations at f2 wide open, and sub-optimal backspacing. I've posted a more saturated mouseover, for those who prefer.
