After looking at my subs, I saw lots of faint dust signal - but then noted with horror the shapes of the stars. Running a few subs through ASTAP revealed quite a bit of tilt in the image. The focuser has a tilt adapter, but what to do? Throw two nights of images away? Crop away the edges and lose the faint dust clouds? With weather and schedule being what they are, I decided to keep them until such date when I can corrected the tilt and reshoot.

The workflow was a little unusual in that I am learning PixInsight but not ready to fully cut over. So I stacked in APP, image solved and did SPCC in PI, and then went to Affinity to finish.

Title: M45 PixInsight Reprocessed - My First PI Image!

Description: Last Thanksgiving I started in on PixInsight. It has been and on-and-off again process, but the last few days I decided to push forward on my first PinInsight image. It was a 18 hour marathon processing session, nourished only by brandy and cigars.

And here it is: a rework of my previous M45 data, done end-to-end in PixInsight.

Red: 120s x 87

Blue: 120s x 71

3 hours 45 minutes total.

Title: M45 Dusty Pleiades

Description: A minor update, every time I watch another Adam Block video I want to go back and redo all of my past work ;-)

This time the idea was to improve the color a bit and sharpen the core. Not sure there is anywhere else to go unless I add more data. But since I sold that scope ... it's probably done here.

Also since most of my images end up as computer wallpaper, I cropped the image for an aspect ratio of 16:9.

Submitted The date and time when you submitted this image for IOTD/TP consideration.	...
Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
