What is better, achieving balance with the weights at the very end of the counter weight shaft or adding more weight and moving them closer to the RA drive? I have just enough room to balance with a slight bias but I am afraid that it may cause instability with the weight hanging close to the edge.. Thanks Bob  |

| The moment will be the same in both cases so I would use more weights closer to the mount as that will be less prone to flexing the counter weight shaft. You could use two weights. Mot of the weight close to the mount but then a smaller weight toward the end of the shaft for fine balance or adjusting balance as you change equipment on the mount. |
