🤣🤣One of them asked a question and it turned into a street brawl.
If they aren't arguing with refractor owners, they're fighting amongst themselves.
Y'all steer clear.🤣🤣

All in fun

It seems this full Moon is having a lot of effects as there was at least another heated discussion on the forum at the same time

A Newt is a Newt and that's a hoot
And no one can call it a Newt, well shoot
Unless that Newt is the famous brute
Known as a Newtonian

He's mean and he's bad and that is sad
But the boys with fracs are always glad
That is because they've never had
To collimate a Newt

For stars with bars don't look too far
Buy a Newt and there you are
And if you want a real pink star
Try a Newtonian🤣

this is not the first discussion that got animated, as we know!! Differences in language and understanding, especially colloquial terms, can contribute as I think happened in the other thread. For a self moderated forum, we do quite well, I think. On the other hand, what’s generally not useful is starting threads or writing posts for the sole purpose of riling or demeaning people (wasn’t referring to your post or contributions).

I was funning with them. It was all in jest. I also include self deprecating humor such as this post on Cloudy Nights in the thread, "The Refractor Crowd Is Making Fun Of Us"osted Today, 08:33 AMDavesView, on 22 Jan 2024 - 7:58 PM, said:
And in the deep south, Mr. Reflector (aka Flec) is having his usual disagreement with Mr. Refractor (aka Frac)...
Flec, "MR planets.
"Frac, "MR not planets!
"Flec, "OSAR!"
Frac, "MR planets?"
Flec solemnly shaking his head yes, "MR planets."

The continuing saga, Flec vs Frac:
Flec, "Hey there Frac! Where you headed in such a hurry?"
Frac., "I don't have time to argue with you, Flec. I just picked up my new refractor."
Flec, "Oh yeah! What size is it?"
Frac, "It's a 91mm x 2mm and it's made by the Super Duper Photon Scooper Telescope Company."
Flec, "Don't you mean a 2mm x 91mm?"
Frac, "No! It's a fast f/.02 scope. It's so fast it leaves the sky it looked at devoid of photons momentarily."
Flec, <chuckle> "OK, well you have fun now, ya hear."

Hello everyone,

I seldom need to step in for moderation, as our AstroBin community consistently exhibits commendable behavior.

However, I must address the current discussion. While I acknowledge there have been conversations on similar topics within other AstroBin forums, I find it unproductive to initiate a thread solely to highlight these issues, potentially exacerbating the situation.

Given that no constructive outcome seems likely from this thread, I've decided to close it. My goal is to ensure the AstroBin forums continue to serve as a platform for constructive and mature discussions on topics relevant to astronomy and astrophotography.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,
Salvatore (Owner of AstroBin)
