I was genuinely shocked to hear that Alyn passed away.
His photography is inspiring and his astrophotography content on YouTube is absolutely outstanding.

Oh my word! The only reason I am on this forum is because of Alyn. His Milky Way landscape shots inspired me to try something new with my camera gear and I ended up an astrophotographer.
He will be greatly missed and his passing a massive loss to the astrophotography community.
My thoughts are with his family and friends.
He left us too soon.

Oh my word! The only reason I am on this forum is because of Alyn. His Milky Way landscape shots inspired me to try something new with my camera gear and I ended up an astrophotographer.

I was genuinely sad to hear he passed away and that's rare for someone I don't know personally.
His passion for astrophotography has always been evident in his videos. It's infectious and he just came across as a very nice grounded and talented astrophotographer.
I'm really glad I got to buy his book. It's well worth it.
I hope his channel and content is preserved and his family gets to benefit from his royalties.
It would even be befitting to have a major international astrophotography prize named after him.

I am about to setup for the night and I'm feeling down and motivation-less. Not quite sure what to do with myself.
I have his book too and its great. His writing and video presentation are so natural, just makes it so easy for you to learn from him. His monthly 'what's happening' videos were a must watch for me, religiously entering dates of conjunctions etc into my calendar.
I couldn't agree more about a prize named after him. I know there are quite a few YouTubers out there who have inspired others, but Alyn would inspired so many to just 'give it a go' with their own existing gear as I did. Hope that happens.

I am in total shock hearing this news. He was the only reason I look forward to the end of the month with his 'What's in the night sky' show on YouTube. I can't believe he's no longer here with his. Fly high with the stars Alyn

I keep checking the news hoping it was a mistake, hoping to wake up from a nightmare... it feels surreal. I can't believe the news.
Alyn has inspired us so much. He had so much to do! Every video, his book, his engineering creations, it was all much more than a way of life, it was passion to teach, to share. He had so much dedication. He took me to so many places with his videos, and I spent so many nights under the stars inspired by him! I got a signed copy of his book. We shared a couple of mails when I asked some advices. He was so kind, so ready to help. He is a star gone too soon. My heartfelt condolences to Alyn's family and friends.
Every end of month I will remember to wonder what's in the night sky. Every night out under the stars, I will think of him; remember his advice.

He seemed like a genuine and really decent person. Not some Youtube persona. and of course his work I respect hugely. His passing is a huge loss to the astro community, but more importantly to his friends and family. Far too young. It is very sad.

He definitively influenced me. I might have been capturing landscape in my astro photography before i knew Alyn. But he definitely pushed my effort.
