Here's something for observers of the Waning Gibbous Moon, especially when the evening terminator runs at 65° East. During this phase of the moon, a distinct bright elevation is noticeable in the midst of the triangle of southern craters Hagecius, Helmholtz, and Gill. I discovered this curious mound on friday the 23th of may 1997, and because it has no officially recognized name, I call it Mons Caes.
I try to find telescopic photographs of this sunlit mound in the gallery of ASTROBIN. Perhaps you know a very good photograph on which this distinct formation was captured (perfect libration circumstances).

This mound, or mountain, was captured on several telescopic photographs made by the legendary moon photographer Henry Hatfield (aka Commander Hatfield). See Jeremy Cook's The Hatfield Photographic Lunar Atlas (Springer, 1998).
Plates 14c and 16b show this mountain very well!

There are indeed splendid photographs of Mons Caes in Astrobin. Looks like I could create a veritable list!
