Hi all,
as a new user I would like to quickly introduce myself and my “rig”.

I’m from Italy and I’m a software developer with passion for Astronomy since childhood, I mainly used my first scope (an 80mm f/12.5 achromatic refractor, which now has over 20 years old) on the moon and later discovered wider observation using a 20x80 binocular.
Most of the time I casually stargazed the sky, and I still remember the first time when I saw Jupiter and its moons! It was unexpectedly beauty!
Lately, I’ve been intrigued by big objects like M31 or M42 and excited on how the technology progressed since old camera films.

Always curious to try some AP, I recently did the move… With the smallest budget possible!
So, I purchased an old but in great condition Meade ETX-70AT, not the best out there but a reasonably fast refractor which allows portability and has built-in tracking capabilities (still not the best, but better than nothing).
Once I joined this trip in the early ‘00s, being a child, I dreamed a lot around Meade ETXs. To my eyes they were cutting edge technology in a small setup. Honestly, I’m happy to finally have one of them!

I also purchased a used SONY ILCE-5000, a light mirrorless camera with live-view and a foldable screen (greatly better than my heavy Nikon DSLR).
I find it a good solution because I am now capable to stream over WiFi using the smartphone app and the remote camera software via USB connection to capture on my MacBook. Way better than just a handheld intervalometer!

Being the mount a native Alt-Az, I built a wooden “adapter” for my video tripod which allows me to use it in either Alt-Az or wedged EQ.
Meade Autostar allows that so why not trying!

Ending with buying a set of filters with a huge discount and some cheap clone adapters from China, I was ready to go..
Considering that I spent less than €300 for everything, it seems fantastic even it's just a toy piece of equipment for experts like you!

With my very first Moon photo I finally started my journey on this highly desired hobby!
I just wanted to share the happiness with this incredible community!

Here’s a pic of the “rig” (note the counterweight, lol):
