My name is Rafael and i live in Brooklyn NYC, the light pollution capital of the USA. Well i own a 925 Egde HD with a Canon T6S with a Baader mod (arriving in the mail very soon). I get out to view and practice every clear night I'm given. Theres an old municipal airport nearby that is a national park, thats is semi private and it has its dark areas. Im very new to the hobby of astro photography, but i am hooked. I joined the Amateur Astronomers Association here in NYC and I'm currently trying to find locals in NYC to go out to view together. I will plan some upstate dark sky spots this summer as well. Hi all! |

Hi Rafael, astrophotography in the city is not an easy thing, however not impossible, I'm also living in a city center with high light pollution. There are 2 areas with higher success factor, the planetary and the narrowband imaging (NB), but you will see after your first few shots. I suggest to check this map (if you dont know yet), according to my experiences red-white areas are ok only for the mentioned 2 areas. https://djlorenz.github.io/astronomy/lp2006/overlay/dark.html |

Thanks Xordi, Thanks and yes i am familiar with the dark sky map. There are several backyard astrophotographers in LP area creating beautiful images, if they can I may have a shot. Thanks again. Rafael |
