NGC 2403 (Caldwell 7) is an outlying member of the M81 group and the brightest galaxy in Camelopardalis. It is similar in size and nature to M33, with many large HII star-forming regions. NGC 2403 lies about 10 million light years away.

This image comes from just one night of subframes. Several waves of thin clouds came through during the night, never enough to cause guiding to fail, but enough to make the background vary widely in brightness from sub to sub. Based on tips in some Adam Block videos, I used Local Normalization in WBPP and weighted the subs with PSF SNR. The integrated result showed a dark background. Color balanced with SPCC, followed by DBE and StarX. I then separated the target from the stars with Blanshan and Cranfield's ScreenStars, and ran NoiseX to finish linear processing. I stretched the image with GHS, then used a range masks (think concentric donuts) to apply LHE to the outer and inner parts of the galaxy. It was LHE that made the faint outer arms visible. I then tweaked with Curves and darkened the background a little with HT.
