Description

The Iris Nebula (NGC 7023) is a bright emission nebula located in the constellation Cygnus. It is approximately 1,400 light-years from Earth. The nebula is named after the Greek goddess Iris, who was the goddess of the rainbow. The nebula is shaped like a rainbow, and its colors are caused by the emission of light from different types of atoms and molecules in the nebula. The nebula is home to many young stars, and its bright light is caused by the energy emitted from these stars. The Iris Nebula is a popular target for amateur astronomers, and it is one of the most beautiful nebulae in the night sky.
