Description

The magnificent M13 Globular Cluster in Hercules has always been one of my personal favorites.
Bright enough at magnitude 5.8 to be seen with binoculars in the Hercules constellation even though it is more than 25 thousand light years from earth. Under the right conditions M13 can be seen from the darkest skies with the naked eye.  It was first discovered by Edmund Halley, the noted British astronomer, in 1714.  The Hubble telescope photographed the heart of M13 back in July 2010.
M13 is composed of several hundred thousand stars, with estimates varying from around 300,000 to over half a million.

I've finally made the investment in time to begin to learn to use Pixinsight to process my images.  While I still have a long way to go, I was anxious to begin using Pixinsight.  This is my first image processed from raw image files to finished product.
