Description

I have observed NGC 6440 three times:

* 18 June 2015 at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado using a 12” Skywatcher Dobsonian: Very dim patch. Overall dim but it brightens towards the core. Appears to have a large halo.

* 26 September 2016 at the Okie-Tex Star Party using a 12” Skywatcher Dobsonian: I This globular cluster is a dim patch that brightens slightly towards the center.

* 1 October 2024 at the Okie-Tex Star Party using a 22” Doc Telescope Dobsonian: NGC 6440 is a bright patch that brightens slightly towards the center. No stars resolved and no discernible colors.

I obtained the calibrated lights frames used to create the final image from Telescope Live. The frames were imaged by the CHI-1-CMOS Telescope at the El Sauce Observatory in Chile.
