Description

M45 (Pleiades) is a well known asterism and star cluster in the constellation Taurus. It is relatively close to Earth at 444 light years. It is dominated by young, hot blue stars making it easily visible to the naked eye from most places on earth. Images of this region normally center on the cluster itself, but since the region is populated with other fainter nebulae, I decided to go for a widefield view to try to capture IC 353 and IC 1995 in the same view. As you can see from the result, these two nebulae are...how you say...inconsequential. I am surprised they have their own catalog numbers. Because my camera is old, I had to collect a lot of data to even show them at all. But the Pleiades themselves turned out OK, and this image can serve as a reference to others not to reenact my experiment.
