Description

M33 is a spiral galaxy located 2.73 million light-years away in the constellation Triangulum. It is the smallest of the three galaxies that the local group of galaxies, which include our own Milky Way and Andromeda. Often referred to as the "Pinwheel Galaxy", M33 was first observed by Giovanni Battista Hodierna and later observed by Charles Messier in 1764 and included in his Catalog of Nebula and Star Clusters.
