Description

This image was taken at the 440 Ranch, Shoshoni, Wyoming, using an SVQ100, Nikon D800, and a Celestron AVX mount.  I was able to camp at the site the night before, and polar aligned the mount that night. This image is composed of 6 frames (exposures 1/500, 1/125, 1/30,  ¼, ½ , and 2 seconds at ISO 100).  I used the Russell Brown method to process the image.  I had planned on using Eclipse Orchestrator , but it would not work the day of the eclipse (I have had intermittent problems with the software not tripping the shutter, and had to restore the hard drive from a backup to get it to work again), so I went to the backup plan, and used  BackYard Nikon instead. The images were processed in Photoshop CS 5.5 Extended, with minor edits in Lightroom 4.  Since then I have learned Pixinsight, so in 2022  I used Pixinsight to bring out additional details in the corona, and added the 2 second exposure to get a hint of earth shine on the moon.
