Description

Sharpless 2-275, Caldwell 49, The Rosette nebula.

A few clear nights these last six weeks got me out under the stars as this beautiful target sets in the west for this season.
The nebula is located in the constellation Monoceros, The Unicorn, close to the more famous constellation Orion, The Hunter and lies in a distance of 5000 lightyears from my bedroom window.
The nebula measures about 130 lightyears across and also holds a star cluster as a tenant, the NGC 2244.
