Description

This image reveals several members of the Hickson 68 galaxy group. The large one top left is NGC5390 (aka 5371). Others at the lower right are NGC 5350, 5353, 5354, 5355, and 5358. NGC 5390 is magnitude 10.5 and lies approx 103 million light years away from earth in the constellation Canes Venatici. The field of view in this image is about 1 degree wide. 5390 is about 4 arcminutes by 2.5 arcminutes. The faint edge on ring galaxy bottom left center is PGC 49480, magnitude 15.3 and about 128 million light years away.
