Description

This small but beautiful emission nebula is located 16,000 light years away in the constellation of Cygnus at a declination of +37 degrees.  It spans 8 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 35 light years.

HII is stronger in the rim, while OIII has a fairly strong presence in the inner region.  SII is surprisingly strong here as well, making for a nice (but small) narrowband object.

The ionizing star is believed to be one of the two bright blue stars near and just left of the center.
