Description

IC1318 is a diffuse emission nebula complex near Sadr, the central star in the constellation of Cygnus. Seen here is the IC1318b portion of this complex accompanied and partially obscured by numerous dark rifts of nebulosity and the main dark area seen on the left known as LDN889 which bisects IC1318b and IC1318c. IC1318b is about 55 light years in diameter and about 4900 light years away. The entire HII region is illuminated by a solitary visually obscured class O9 star.
