Now that I am able to use my DSI 3 Pro mono CCD with my new favourite Samyang lens, I tried out a Ha portrait of IC405, the flaming star nebula, and IC410. I am encouraged by the amount of data in just 3 hours, although the resolution is not great even with drizzle from this camera, which sports 6.45 micron square pixels. After a discussion with
@Alan Brunelle in my last published image, I 'remembered' that I have access to my tiny GPCAM 130M with 3.75 micron pixels which would be a better fit. At just 1280 x 960 pixels the field of view in this lens is much reduced, as illustrated below..
In addition I was right at the focus limit with an additional 1mm shim to enable me to release my filter drawer (the thread on my current 10mm adapter is a bit too long with my bigger Baader filters). I expect the focus is sub-optimal. I may try again with the GPCAM and see what difference it makes. Most noticeable the ridiculously short download and processing times with the tiny file sizes.
