Description

This is the Leo Triplet, located 35 million light years away in the Leo constellation. These three galaxies are gravitationally interacting with each other. Like most galaxies, the Leo triplet is thought to have a significant amount of dark matter, but in these galaxies, scientists think that the amount of dark matter is several times greater than that of visible matter.
I generated this picture from 265 3-minute images over three clear nights in April.
